Prep Ahead

If you have never gone camping before, might want to go over a basic camping checklist. Since this is car camping, there's not as much concern about the amount and weight of stuff as for backpacking. Feel free to pack whatever you can fit in your car :D

Camping Checklist

Check the weather forecast:

Download driving directions ahead of time:

We've never been to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park before, so no idea how the cellular reception is like. Safest is just to download offline maps for that area onto your phone ahead of time just in case.

Prepare walkie-talkies:

Again, not sure about cellular reception there, so we plan to bring our walkie talkies just in case.

Charge up your walkie talkies and set to Channel 9 Subcode 5.

Pack the following:

Quarters if you want to take hot showers

Money for purchasing fire wood ($10 per bundle)

Camping Logistics

Although it'd be more efficient to figure out who's bringing items that can be shared with the entire group, I'm too lazy to plan and coordinate, so everyone is responsible for bringing their own gear, food, and water.  Or, you are welcome to coordinate on your own with others in the group :)

About Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

We'll be camping at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park near Santa Cruz, which is about a 45 minute drive from Almaden.  The campground is shady with flush toilets and hot showers. Showers are quarter-operated.
