Just us and VL biking today. It was very nice weather, and Little J biked from the very beginning at the parking lot with Hubby pushing him here and there. Little J was tired though, cuz he didn't nap the day before and didn't sleep well during the night. He biked 5.5 miles before he finally said he wanted to be towed. After that, we caught up to the older J's and VL, and saw VL was massaging Middle J's legs. Evidently, Middle J was biking too fast and ended up with cramps in his legs and very tight muscles. He took it easy after that, and with some "comfort" pushing from Hubby made it to Rivermark Plaza without further incident.
We went to Red Robin where we normally eat in the outdoor patio, but they were short on servers and didn't open the outside patio. We ended up just eating at some outdoor tables in the public plaza area. VL took Middle J to Safeway to buy sushi, while Hubby got food to-go from Red Robin. VL was sitting there unable to turn her neck due to very tight neck, shoulder, and back muscles causing pain. I tried to massage the area, but VL was soon yelping at just the lightest touch, so had to stop and let her rest. Hubby finally came over with the food from Red Robin. We were sitting there eating, when all of a sudden we heard a pop and hiss. We checked the bikes and found that Oldest J's front tire was completely flat. Hubby took the tube out and saw what looked like a defect where the tube just burst. Hubby replaced with the spare tube, but after pumping the tire up and putting it on the bike, it went flat. He took it out and saw that it was leaking where there was a previous patch. Hubby then took out a brand new tube that he had just purchased 2 days ago, but turns out it's a "light" tube that was very thin. He put it on anyway, and again, went completely flat. There was a small cut on the tube :/ Hubby then tried to patch up the first tube that burst, pumped it up, crossed our fingers, held our breaths, and whew. Seemed to be holding air! That took almost an hour, haha. Hubby used this opportunity to show Oldest J how to change and patch up tubes, while the other boys were happily playing Connect 5.
We biked over to the park, and the boys had fun as usual playing ball, digging holes and playing trucks in the sand. The adults had a nice lounge and chat, and pretty soon it was time to go. We ate nectarines then packed up. Little J refused to bike, requesting to sit in the baby seat. He was completely out several minutes later. The weather was still beautiful, sunny and breezy, making for a pleasant ride back. Â
When we got back to the parking lot, Little J was still snoozing, so tied the bike up to a pole to load all the other stuff first. We then discovered that Oldest J's front tire had gone completely flat again. He said he didn't know it was flat and that it was perfectly fine when biking back. Sigh. Guess we'll need to buy better tires and tubes.
Later that night when I asked Little J if he had fun, he said, 'Yes. I really like the peach." I was like, "Huh? Peach?" And he responded, "Yea, the peach was very sweet and yummy." Hahahaha.. "Oh, you mean the nectarine!" First love is definitely food for that boy.
